Cruelty free Make Up brands

2/12/2017

Starting off 2017 with a post.. in February.. in English. There was a small gap between posting from December until now, because I moved! Not only house, no, I moved from Germany to the UK! As I live in London now for around 2 months, I think I settled in a little bit and I feel ready to blog again. If you would like to see any London related posts like food spots/travel tips or anything like that, please tell me!

Winter got me feeling a little bit weird.. as much as I love the cold weather, snuggling in with Hot Chocolate and a cozy blanket, I also recognised an extremely amount of people wearing real fur on their hats, jackets and anywhere, just as decor on their clothes. I never wore real fur, will never do it and I don't actually know how it has become so "in my face" this/last year. Maybe because you cross your way with so many people in London. This "trend" got me thinking so much, I had days when I just felt horrible, because I know how this fur gets produced and I just can't understand how there are people who actually do these things to animals.

It made me thinking.. I thought I don't want these bad things happen to other creatures. These animals that get abused just for little pompoms on the hats or for jackets are the same as what we call out pets. They have feelings just as we have and our pets have..

I transferred this feeling to the other parts of my life. I started cutting meat down, for now I don't eat meat at all and buy as much dairy free and plant based things as I can. But I also started thinking about makeup/beauty, the thing that I love so much. Why do some brands decide that they have the right to test beauty products for us humans on animals? It breaks my heart to think about my cat, sitting in a laboratory, shaved and with irritated or itching skin just so that I can wear this foundation or that lipstick? It sounds grotesque to me, that brands actually have to test their products on animals just to sell these things in China. It makes absolutely no sense.

Loooong intro, sorry about that, but I wanted to share my story. I will obviously use up all of my products that I have right now, even if they are not cruelty free. But for the future, I definitely want to think more about what I consume and use, so I will make my research on things.

I wanted to start this off with a post about the brands that are actually cruelty free! For some of them I was very impressed and surprised and I'm looking forward to discover new brands on my way of getting cruelty free. So let's get started, I will just list the brands in alphabetical order to give a good overview. There are some brands where their parent company isn't cruelty free but the brand is, I will include these ones because I want to support them, to show their parent companies that it isn't necessary to test on animals to be successful.

I concentrated on the "biggest" ones, to keep it clear. There are so many more, you can take a look at this list.

I think most of these brands every online-beauty-girl is used to, I'm very impressed on which brands I'm already using and had no idea they were cruelty free! Also I'm dying to try things from Sunday Riley, Charlotte Tilbury, Tarte and Liz Earle so it's perfect that they don't test on animals.

I hope this list helps you to get an overview and help you to see through the bulk of brands that are out there. If you know any more great brands that are cruelty free please share in the comments!

Have an amazing Sunday!
